The Budgeteer

Have you ever seen this elusive 7th model, called the Budgeteer? According to this brochure, it was a duplex & was "not for sale" but rented for $65/month. As far as we know, none were ever built except maybe a model home. Email us if you know anything about it.

The First Levittown, NJ House Samples were in Levittown, PA
Prototype houses for the "next" Levittown, which began construction in 1958, in Willingboro Twp, NJ were built on Terrace Road in the Twin Oaks section of Levittown, PA right around the block from Amy's parents house. The Cape Cod had three exteriors--two contemporary and one traditional. The Colonial was built in an alternate and starkly modern exterior which incorporated sliding aluminum windows that did not make it into the New Jersey houseline. Current photos of these prototype homes in Twin Oaks can be viewed below. Many of the exteriors are in near original condition.

"Regardless of the Levittown house which you choose, you will be acquiring the latest in modern design with the most up to date appliances and features."
Levitt & Sons Sales Brochure

Each year, Levitt & Sons built particular sections and manufactured certain models, each available in 2 to 4 different styles. The 1957 Levitt Sales Brochure above shows that in 1957, Levitt & Sons offered the Jubilee, Levittowner, Pennsylvanian and Country Clubber models. All of that years models had similar types of features and built-ins. They ranged in price based on square footage.

A Total of Six Models Were Built In Levittown, PA
  The Levittowner
  The Rancher
  The Jubilee
  The Country Clubber
  The Pennsylvanian
  The Colonial

Levitt & Sons focused on low cost and efficient designs. Variety was achieved with the six house models, each in several different style variations and model years The model, year and style described the house design, such as "1954 Jubilee No. 1" below

All of these Levitt Houses had 5 Key Design Concepts
Open Floor Plan design marked by a minimum of interior walls.
Picture Windows and natural light wherever possible.
  Expandable Attic and/or Carport
  Modern Kitchen with Built-In Appliances
Indoor/Outdoor Living with Common Open Spaces

Example of Levitt's Modern Built-In Kitchen 1957

Levittown Kitchen (GE Ad 1957)

This is exact turquoise kitchen my parents had in their 1957 Country Clubber in Snowball Gate. To maximize space, notice how all of the major appliances—including an automatic washer and dryer, automatic dishwasher, sink, 4 burner cook top and oven, along with built-in cabinets and  a stainless steel countertop-- all fit into about 8 feet of wall space.

Other Built-Ins Could Include
a  Hi-Fi and a Television
To Levitt & Sons, a TV was an appliance. Levitt made money on the built-ins because their retail price was added to the sale price and amortized into the buyer’s 30yr mortgage. See the  TV and Hi-Fi built-in under the stairs.
