A common question Levittowners ask one
another is "What section are you from?"
Now this is a fair question since
Levittown, PA covers 22 square miles
where 17,311 houses were built in 41
neighborhoods, called "sections" by
Levittowners. All sections had common
infrastructure characteristics such as
paved streets, street lighting,
off-street water and sewer, telephone,
and electrical lines; almost all
sections also had sidewalks.
Layout of the Sections
Each section also had an open space area
(called a greenbelt) with many sections
having a drainage ditch running through
them. Levitt made sites available for
public schools and recreation areas. The
layouts of the streets in the
neighborhoods help eliminate through
traffic. Most streets in a section
connected to an outer beltway or "Drive"
with the same name as the section. The
Drive went all the way around a section
with several entrance/exits to the main
roads, parkways or other sections.

Section & Street Naming
Conventions
Section names were chosen by Levitt and
street names were assigned by the
engineers. For example, the Lakeside
section sits next to Lake Levittown, the
Magnolia Hill section is built on a hill
and the Mill Creek Falls section is
built next to a creek of the same name.
The names of the streets within each
section always begin with the same
letter that as the name of the section.
With only 26 letters in the alphabet and
41 sections, some letters were used
twice, once in Levittown "West" and once
in Levittown "East". The letters X & Z
not used. Edgely Road is the dividing
line between Levittown West and
Levittown East. Streets in Levittown
East are called "Lanes" Streets in
Levittown West are called "Roads".
Example, Sweetbriar Lane would be in the
Stonybrook section (in Levittown East)
while Scarlet Oak Road would be in the
Snowball Gate section (in Levittown
West).
